Where do you start with Whistler, as its unlike any other ski resort in North America.It offers the largest system, the greatest vertical rise, the most high speed lifts and, with well over 300ft of annual snowfall, normally exceptional conditions, which are assured from November right through to May. Get your timing right and its paradise on skis or a board.Not perhaps the best place to learn to ski,though it has improved considerably, but it really excels for intermediates and advanced enthusiasts. Perfectly groomed slopes lead right into a well-designed, atmospheric centre,where both the main Blackcomb and Whistler lifts meet and the whole place is surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. This is a resort to rival any in Europe, with the Canadian "drawl" adding to the ambiance.
Lively, friendly and with a relaxed west-coast atmosphere, it is hard to leave Whistler without a smile on your face.On your way back to Vancouver airport,or on the way to Whistler why not stay a night or two in the fabulous city of Vancouver.We have negotiated some great rates at the magnificent Pan Pacific or the excellent Inn at False Creek.
Whistler is very well designed with a vast array of shopping outlets,restaurants and bars,with many migrating to the Dubh Linn Gate Irish pub or Garibaldis after a hard day on the slopes.Apres ski is lively and varied and probably the best apres ski, stateside, though Aspen may argue with that!.Eating out caters for all tastes with a huge choice,at reasonable prices(especially compared to European prices) so we recommend hotels or condos as the places to stay, though we can offer "designer"catered properties to suit.There is just so much choice again to suit any budget.Put Whistler firmly on your "must go or must go again list".Its hard to leave and many return, often.
To ski both Whistler and Blackcomb you used to ski to the bottom and go back up the other mountain,which many people found an inconvenience,however the new "cross mountain" Gondola has now opened, allowing access to cross from Whistler to Blackcomb and vice versa from mid mountain,re establishing Whistler as one of the top 10 ski destinations in the world.
