| Straddling the Continental Divide is the closest of ski resorts to Denver,Winter Park..This again has an abundance of ski terrain to suit all levels and we highly rate the skiing.Increasingly popular with the Brits and the Irish the excellent skiing is on 3 mountains plus a bowl area, which is the locals favourite. Now shares the lift pass with Copper Mountain making this another skiing and boarding paradise, with significant money being spent by Intrawest on the whole area. Like most American ski resorts there are no T bars or Poma lifts, just mainly fast chair lifts, enabling you to maximise your time on the slopes and not spending time and effort trying to get to the top!Not a lot of slopeside accommodation but its improving, with prices reflecting that.Hence one of the best value ski resorts in North America, given such quality skiing conditions, with only a 90 minute transfer from Denver airport. Enough bars and restaurants for your stay (about 50 or so)but dont go there for a shopping experience just yet.Concentrate on the skiing and you certainly won't be disappointed. The mountain and the town have their own distinctive character and being close to Denver even a 7 night break is well worth considering.Half term here is often cheaper than Europe, with more reliable snow conditions! The scenery, the cost, the ambience, the snow, the pistes and relative quietness on the slopes should be more than enough reasons to go.Ski you there! |
